“Tejano Music, Mi Musica! Mi Cultura!”

My trip to Austin and a golf tournament sponsored by Ruben Ramos has led to the birth of the North Texas Tejano Music Coalition at Dallas.  The first meeting was held at the LaQuinta Inn in Arlington, TX, in August 2007.  Eleven people attended and a second meeting was scheduled for September 2007.  At the second meeting over 60 people attended.  Among the attendees were singers, artist, band members, D.J.'s, business owners and community and political members.  The meeting sparked an interest in establishing the coalition and led to appointing officers and staff.  The first official meeting was held at Herrera's Restaurant at Inwood Rd. and Denton Hwy. in Dallas, TX.  The mission of the NTTMC – at Dallas is to bring positive change to the Mexican American community and propel the empowerment of our people through promotion and preservation of Tejano Music, art and lifestyle.  Domingo Urias will provide leadership to the group by directing the members of the coalition in a positive direction.

The following officers were appointed at the first official staff meeting: Domingo Urias - Executive Vision Director; Cecilia Law - President  “NTTMC” - Dallas; Mary Richarte - Executive Assistant to the President; Robert Silva - Treasurer; Sandra Watson - Admin. Assistant to the Treasurer; Steve Adame - Marketing Director; Albert Panagua - Art Director; Art Garcia - (IT/MIS Director pending).

We have established a mission statement, name for our group and are preparing to file Non-Profit Status. The name is the “North Texas Tejano Music Coalition”.

A special "Thank You" To: Janie Quintero & Leonard Davila, of the “Austin Tejano Music Coalition” for offering support and encouragement. Domingo Urias for the many hours contributed to organizing the staff & information necessary to establish the NTTMC - Dallas. Robert Silva - for providing a meeting room in his CPA Office in Dallas, TX, and for setting up our non-profit status. To all the Tejano Music Bands that have provided us with many hours of Tejano Music. Especially, “Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution” for donating time and talent to raise support for children of all races with physical problems.

    Sincerely,
    Cecilia Law
